ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Griffon Baseball (22-17, 15-11 MIAA) extended its current winning streak to seven games with an 11-9 victory over Emporia State (28-12, 14-9 MIAA) on Tuesday night at Griffon Park in St. Joseph.

MoWest, who's won 12 of its last 13 games and 10 straight at home for the first time since 2014, trailed 4-0 after the first and 7-3 after the third, but tied the game at 7-7 with four runs in the bottom of the fourth.

ESU eked out a 9-7 lead with two runs in the fifth, but MoWest took the lead for good in the bottom of the seventh with a three-run RBI triple to right field by Issac Sobieszczyk to put the Griffs ahead 10-9.

MoWest added one more run in the ninth, and the Griffon pitching staff held the Hornets off the board over the last four innings.

Lawson Minshew (2-1) pitched the sixth and seventh inning, and held the Hornets without a hit in that time, striking out one. Jacob Ross struck out two in the eighth, and then Jackson Parrill (S 1) recorded the last four outs to get his first save of the season.

Parrill struck out three of his five batters faced.

Sobieszczyk went 3-for-4 with two runs and three RBI. He had a double along with his triple. Luke Shannahan was 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. He led off the fourth with a solo home run.
