Season ends for Rock Port boys hoops in Class 1 State Sectional loss to Faith Christian Academy

(LATHROP, MO) - The Rock Port High School boys basketball team fought to the very end, but ran out of gas in the fourth quarter in a 68-62 defeat to Faith Christian Academy in the Class 1 State Sectionals.

The score was tied 20-20 after the first quarter and 32-32 at halftime. Rock Port was then about to get a narrow 48-45 lead after the third but the Knights offense just proved a tad better in the fourth quarter.

Junior Jack Meyerkorth led the team with 24 points, followed by sophomore Reid Ellis with 13 and junior Brock Sebek-Holmes with 11 points.

"It's never fun to end the season. I thought we fought really hard. I thought we came a long ways this year. These boys have a lot to be proud of," said Rock Port head coach Aaron Carpenter. "Super successful basketball season, won a district title, that's always nice. But it's not where we wanna be. We want to have a couple more wins under our belt. But you know, it doesn't always happen that way."

Rock Port finishes the season with a 22-7 record.
