Mid-Buchanan girls soccer earns shutout victory over Central

(FAUCETT, MO) - The Mid-Buchanan High School girls soccer team came away with a big 2-0 shutout over Central on Monday in very windy conditions.

Central goal keeper Madalynn Matthews kept the Lady Indians in the game in the first half with multiple saves, keeping the score tied 0-0 at the half.

Then four minutes into the second half, sophomore Myla Flinn scored the first goal of the game for Mid-Buchanan, finding the back left corner of the net. Senior Danika Black added another goal for the Lady Dragons a few minutes later to go up 2-0.

Taylor Dickens had some good shots on goal in the second half for Central but she couldn't get it by senior keeper Tayja Hernandez for Mid-Buchanan as the Lady Dragons get some redemption after losing to Central last season.

"It's a very big confidence boost, especially for our team and that especially beating a team this good," said Flinn. "Especially how they beat us last year."

"One thing that the girls have just shown is grit, we have a couple underclassmen starting for us, putting in a lot of minutes, but you can really tell the chemistry that the girls have," said head coach Danielle Beers-Burkart. "Everyone can do something for us, and I think that's important. That shows a lot too of our success is we've got a lot of people who can do a lot of things."

Mid-Buchanan improves to 7-4-1 on the season and next hosts Savannah on Friday, April 17th at 5 pm. Central falls to 3-4 on the season and next plays at Park Hill on Thursday, April 16th at 6:30 pm.
