Tracking a warm and sunny Wednesday

Abigail McCluskey

A much warmer weather pattern is taking over across northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas, with above-average temperatures expected through the weekend.

A weak cold front will move through Wednesday, but it will do little to change the overall weather pattern. Skies will remain mostly sunny, with afternoon highs generally reaching the low to mid 80s. Winds will shift to the north behind the front, but conditions will remain dry.

Thursday will be slightly cooler, but still warmer than normal for early October, with highs mainly in the mid to upper 70s. A few showers could develop north of the area Thursday night, but most of NW Missouri and NE Kansas should remain dry.

Temperatures rebound Friday and remain warm through the weekend, with highs returning to the low to mid 80s and plenty of sunshine expected. Overall, temperatures will run roughly 10 to 15 degrees above average through the weekend.

The next meaningful chance for rain arrives early next week, particularly Tuesday into Wednesday. Forecast confidence decreases beyond that point, but a more active weather pattern could develop during the middle to latter part of next week.

For now, expect a warm, dry and unseasonably mild stretch across the region with plenty of sunshine through the weekend.
