Atchison High School to hire Tyson Downing as boys basketball head coach

ATCHISON, KS (KQTV) - Pending school board approval on Monday, Tyson Downing will become Atchison High School's new boys basketball head coach.

Downing is an Atchison alum and former player himself when he played there from 2009-2013.

Downing then went on to play college hoops at places like Neosho County Community College in Chanute Kansas and Midland University in Fremont Nebraska. He's previously been an assistant coach at Barton Community College.

Downing now takes over for coach Patrick Battle and will look to lead his alma mater for the foreseeable future.
