Tracking record heat Saturday, breezy and cooler Sunday

Record March heat continues across Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas Saturday, with highs reaching well into the 90s, lots of sunshine, and elevated fire danger. A Red Flag Warning has been issued across the area through 10 PM Saturday due to a combination of steady breezes, dry air, and dry fuels. Mostly clear skies and unseasonably warm temperatures will stick around Saturday evening, with overnight lows in the mid to upper 50s after midnight, and southwest winds at 25 to 25 mph. Increasing clouds, cooler air, and northwest winds arrive Sunday as a cold front pushes through the region allowing temperatures to fall by 25 degrees or so. High’s Sunday will range from the upper 60s to low 70s with mostly cloudy skies and northwest winds at 15 to 25 mph, occasionally gusting over 35 mph.
