Tracking breezy & cooler conditions Friday

Abigail McCluskey

Good morning and happy Friday.

It’s significantly cooler out the door this morning compared to yesterday. Temperatures are in the upper 30s to low 40s behind a cold front that moved through overnight.

We’ll see gradual warming today as cloud cover begins to break up behind that front. Unfortunately, rainfall totals overnight were minimal, with only a trace reported in St. Joseph and areas to the north, including Maryville.

Highs today will reach the upper 50s, with decreasing clouds throughout the afternoon. Gusty north winds up to 40 mph are expected. Combined with dry ground conditions, this has prompted a Red Flag Warning from noon to 8 p.m.

Temperatures today and Saturday will be closer to the seasonal average of around 60 degrees. Expect sunny skies Saturday, with highs returning to the 60s and another Red flag warning from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday.

By Sunday, we warm back into the upper 60s with mostly sunny skies and continued dry conditions.

Rain chances increase Monday and continue through the end of next week. Hopefully, this will bring some much-needed measurable rainfall.
