Tracking a warm Monday before a wet week ahead

Good morning, and happy Monday. As you head out the door this morning, temperatures are in the low 60s, feeling more like an early summer start to the day.

Winds are already picking up, with sustained speeds between 15 and 20 mph. Gusts today will reach into the 20s and 30s from the south, continuing to bring in warmer air. We’ll stay mostly dry through the day, but cloud cover will increase ahead of an approaching cold front.

That cold front will move through late tonight into early Tuesday morning. As it does, there’s a slight chance for a few light sprinkles overnight into the start of the day Tuesday.

More widespread rain and soggy conditions are expected to hold off until later Tuesday and continue through the rest of the workweek. Rain chances increase Wednesday and Thursday, with two back-to-back wet days likely bringing measurable rainfall.

Behind that front, temperatures will cool slightly, dropping into the mid- to upper 50s by Wednesday and Thursday.

Rain chances begin to taper off Friday into Saturday, with drier conditions expected as we head into Easter.

Overall, this week is shaping up to bring beneficial rainfall, with many areas potentially picking up 1 to 2 inches. That should help improve dry conditions across the region.
