Tracking multiple days of rain and t-storms

Temperatures are unseasonably warm and a bit humid this morning, with readings in the upper 60s to low 70s. A cold front is on our doorstep and will move through the area around lunchtime today. As it passes, winds will shift from the southwest this morning to the north this afternoon. That northerly breeze will help keep highs limited to the upper 70s.

As the front moves through, conditions will remain mostly dry during the day. However, rain chances increase heading into the evening and overnight hours. As showers move in tonight, we can’t rule out a few rumbles of thunder, though some areas may stay dry.

Wednesday morning will start off mainly dry, but a stronger line of thunderstorms is expected to move through Wednesday afternoon and evening. Areas from Savannah south are under a Level 2 risk for severe weather. Main threats include small hail, isolated pockets of heavy rain, damaging winds and a brief spin-up tornado.

Rain chances will continue overnight Wednesday into early Thursday. Additional chances return Friday evening and last into Saturday morning.

We begin to dry out Saturday evening, with dry conditions expected for Easter Sunday.

Overall, rainfall totals through the end of the week could range from 2 to 5 inches across the region.
