Tracking rain chances on Thursday

We will begin Thursday morning with temperatures in the upper 60s and lower 70s under mostly to partly cloudy skies across much of northeast Kansas and northwest Missouri. Winds will have picked up out of the southeast at 10 to 15 mph and that will keep the air feeling mild and a bit more humid compared to the middle of the week.

By the afternoon, temperatures will climb into the middle 80s across the area. Despite the cloud cover, it will still feel warm and somewhat muggy at times. There could be a few breaks in the clouds and that will allow our temperatures to possibly reach into the upper 80s.

Most of the daytime looks rain-free, but we will have to watch out as we head into the late afternoon and early Thursday evening when we could see some scattered showers and thunderstorms develop. Severe weather is not expected at this time but we could see some heavy rainfall with some of these storms.
