Tracking cool air and late-week showers

Dry skies and seasonably cool air have made for a pleasant Thursday across Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas. Increasing clouds will give way to rain chances late Thursday night as a low pressure system over Kansas sends the first of several disturbances into the area. Mostly cloudy skies, cool air, and scattered to widespread showers are expected to stick around for much of Friday and Saturday. A few rumbles of thunder will be possible although strong storms are not anticipated. Light southeast breezes will accompany the periods of wet weather, with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s and lows near 60 degrees both Friday and Saturday. Rain chances diminish Sunday with partly sunny skies and a slight warm-up as highs return to the mid to upper 70s.
