Tracking record heat, sunshine, fire danger Saturday

Record March heat is back across Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas to finish the work week and start the weekend, along with lots of sunshine, and elevated fire danger by Saturday. High temperatures Friday broke a daily record in St. Joseph and surrounding areas with widespread mid to upper 80s. Mostly clear skies and light winds continue tonight with lows falling into the mid to upper 40s after midnight. Saturday brings more sunshine and afternoon heat as highs reach the low 90s, likely breaking records once again! Southwest winds at 10 to 20 mph and dry air will create elevated fire weather conditions Saturday. A Red Flag Warning has been for all of Northeast Kansas and parts of Northwest Missouri from 11 AM to 10 PM Saturday.

A cold front will usher in cooler air Sunday as highs fall into the low 70s. Gusty northwest winds and increasing clouds will also accompany the cold front Sunday, with minimal rain chances allowing dry conditions to continue.
