Tracking a warm Thursday & end of the week T-storms

Abigail McCluskey

Good morning and happy Thursday.

As you’re heading out the door this morning, temperatures are very similar to yesterday, with partly cloudy skies across the area. Cloud cover will continue to increase throughout the day.

A warm front moving through the region this morning could bring a few scattered showers and thunderstorms early in the day. Not everyone will see rain, but the better chance looks to be across northeast Kansas. Those rain chances will decrease through the late morning and lunchtime hours.

We’ll remain mainly dry through the middle part of the day before isolated showers and thunderstorms return again overnight. Once again, coverage looks spotty, so not everyone will see rain.

Friday morning will bring another round of sunshine before storm chances return Friday afternoon and evening. We’re currently under a Level 2 out of 5 risk for strong to severe thunderstorms Friday evening.

The main threats look to be hail and damaging wind gusts, with the strongest storms expected between about 3 and 9 p.m.

Additional chances for strong storms continue into Saturday, Sunday, and even early next week.
