Tracking spotty Thursday showers

Good morning and happy Thursday.

As you’re heading out the door this morning, we’re tracking mild and humid conditions across northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas. Temperatures are already in the upper 60s to low 70s, and elevated dew points are making it feel a little sticky outside.

We’re dry for now, but rain chances will increase as we head through the morning and into the afternoon. Cloud cover continues building in, and showers currently south of Interstate 70 will slowly work their way north through the day.

A few isolated showers are possible through the morning commute and lunchtime hours, but rain will remain fairly spotty early on. Even with the clouds and rain chances, temperatures will still climb into the low 80s by lunchtime and reach the mid-80s this afternoon.

Our better chance for more widespread rain arrives later this afternoon and evening, especially closer to northeast Kansas. That could lead to a wet evening commute, so keep the umbrella or rain jacket nearby today.

Spotty showers continue overnight into Friday morning, making for another damp start to end the workweek. Right now, Friday still looks to bring the highest overall rain coverage before rain chances linger into the weekend as well.

Even with the rain, temperatures stay warm in the low to mid-80s through the weekend. And for baseball fans heading out to the St. Joseph Mustangs game Friday night, keep an eye on the forecast as scattered showers remain possible.
