Tracking scattered strong storms Wednesday, late-week warming trend

Scattered strong to severe storms are possible across Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas Wednesday afternoon and early evening as a disturbance tracks through the region. Damaging wind gusts and pockets of sizable hail will be the primary hazards. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued along and north of the HWY- 36 corridor through 8 p.m. Wednesday Aug. 19. Rain and t-storm chances will diminish overnight with partly cloudy skies, lows in the mid to lower 60s, and the potential for patchy fog by early Thursday morning. Sunshine returns Thursday afternoon with highs climbing into the mid 80s. Aside from a slight chance of t-storms Friday, mainly dry skies and warmer air will be the story as the weekend approaches with highs returning to the upper 80s by Friday and Saturday.
