Tracking rainy and gloomy conditions into the weekend

Rain is on the way for northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas, with showers spreading into the area Friday and sticking around through the weekend.

Rainfall totals of 0.50 to 1.25 inches are possible, with the higher amounts favored across northwest Missouri. A few isolated thunderstorms also could develop, along with locally heavy downpours, but severe weather is not expected.

Showers may begin to taper Sunday afternoon, although some rain could linger into Sunday evening.

A brief dry break is expected Monday before another storm system brings additional rain to the region Tuesday and Wednesday.

We’ll keep an eye on the midweek system, which could bring another round of heavy rain as moisture levels become unusually high for late September.
