Tracking Tuesday rain & t-storms

Abigail McCluskey

Good morning and happy Tuesday! Heading out the door this morning, I’m continuing to track scattered showers across the region, with the potential for a few moderate thunderstorms late this morning into the early afternoon as a cold front sweeps through. This front will gradually track south and east throughout the day.

As the cold front moves through, gusty winds and rumbles of thunder will be possible around midday, along with periods of rain. Temperatures will start out warmer this morning, with readings in the middle 60s. Highs will reach around 66 degrees earlier in the day before temperatures gradually begin to cool behind the front.

By the time we're heading home from work and school, temperatures will fall back into the upper 50s. Rain chances will taper off through the evening and overnight hours, with temperatures dropping into the low to middle 40s.

Looking ahead to Wednesday, expect mostly cloudy skies with highs in the low 60s. Seasonable temperatures will stick around through the rest of the workweek and into the early weekend, with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s and overnight lows in the upper 30s to low 40s.

There is a slight chance of rain Thursday, but many of us will stay dry. Overall, precipitation chances remain limited, and the extended forecast is trending cooler and drier.
