BUCHANAN COUNTY, Mo. (KQTV) -- The Missouri Department of Transportation, contracting with Hoy Excavating, LLC, will begin an intersection improvement project at U.S. Route 169 and Riverside Terrace, just south of St. Joseph.

The project is scheduled to begin Monday, March 2, and will shift the Route 169 roadway slightly north from Summerhill Drive to just east of Southeast Riverside Terrace, according to MoDOT.

The project will also realign both the north and south entrances of Southeast Riberside Terrace at the intersection of Route 169 to improve sight distance.

Route 169 will be closed between Route AC and Southeast 70th Street.

A signed detour will be in place guiding motorists from Route 169 to Missouri Route 31 to U.S. Route 36, then to Interstate 29 and back to Route 169.

The work is scheduled to be completed by mid-July 2026.

MoDOT said all work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
