Webster University student among six soldiers killed in Middle East conflict

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KQTV) -- One of the six soldiers who died Sunday in the ongoing conflict with Iran was current Webster University student Cody Khork.

Khork was an online student pursuing a master's degree in Business and Organizational Security Management, according to a Facebook post from the university.

The 35-year-old Army Reserve Captain from Winter Haven, Florida, was stationed in Port Shuaiba, Kuwait. He was killed along with five other U.S. service members.

Khork earned numerous medals during his time in the service, including the Meritorious Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal.

"We offer our deepest condolences to his family and friends as we reach out to his classmates to provide support," said John Buck, the associate vice president for Student Affairs and dean of students.

Khork was one of the first four soldiers to be identified after the strikes.

Maj. Jeffrey R. O'Brien, Sgt. 1st Class Nicole M. Amor, Sgt. 1st Class Noah L. Tietjens, Sgt. Declan J. Cady and Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert M. Marzan also lost their lives.
