KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KQTV) -- Sections of a terminal at the Kansas City International Airport were reopened Sunday afternoon after a potential threat was deemed not credible.

FBI Director Kash Patel announced on social media that the threat was reviewed and was determined not to be credible.

"FBI and our law enforcement partners quickly responded to the scene and secured the area. The threat was reviewed and determined not to be credible. Terminal has been swept, cleared, and normal operations resumed."

Patel thanked the federal partners at the United States Department of Transportation and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy for the quick response and coordination.

"Threats like these are a federal crime. FBI and law enforcement partners will fully investigate and bring justice to anyone responsible," Patel wrote.

On Sunday the Kansas City Aviation Department was made aware of the potential threat, as sections of a terminal were evacuated.
