ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- Over the St. Patrick's Day weekend, the St. Joseph Police Department said it conducted a two-day Traffic Saturation Enforcement effort to promote safe travel and deter impaired driving.

The department performed the efforts from March 14 to March 17.

Saturday's operation was a joint effort between SJPD and the Buchanan County Sheriff's Department.

Over the period, both law enforcement entities conducted 92 traffic stops, 36 bar checks for compliance and disturbances, SJPD issued 32 citations and also issued 11 warnings.

Officers also logged five instances of drivers on the road with suspended licenses and having revoked arrests, or a violation of probation conditions. The Sheriff's Office made five DWI arrests.

The enforcement effort was a way to encourage deterrence of unsafe and illegal activity, SJPD said in a Facebook Post Wednesday that the effort proved to be successful.
