File

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- Following the Missouri Supreme Court's decision on congressional maps and Sam Graves' retirement announcement for Missouri's District 6, candidates rushed to file ahead of the deadline.

The filing deadline for the Aug. 4, 2026 Primary Election is 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31.

Voters will see an array of names, some familiar, on their ballots across the state.

Missouri's District 6 has seen an influx in filings, after Sam Graves' retirement announcement last week.

By Tuesday afternoon, the District has seen the filings of five Republican candidates, three democratic candidates and one Libertarian.

Just a week ago, Missouri's Supreme Court upheld the validity of the "Missouri First" congressional map, one that splits up Missouri's 5th District, currently held by Democrat Emanuel Cleaver of Kansas City.
