City to make changes to 22nd and Duncan intersection

File

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- The City of St. Joseph will make changes to the traffic signals at 22nd and Duncan Streets to ease congestion at the intersection.

Signals at the intersection will flash all red from Monday, April 13 through Thursday, April 16 to allow for the transition.

The change will include a left-turn yield on green signals for Duncan traffic traveling eastbound and westbound. There will be not changes for traffic on 22nd Street traveling north and south.

Once he change in complete, Duncan traffic traveling east and west will receive green lights at the same time.

The changes follow a traffic study conducted at the intersection, prompted by low traffic volumes traveling east on Duncan outside school drop-off and pick-up times.

As part of the study, signal timing was adjusted so Duncan traffic traveling east and west received green lights at different times in order to improve flow on 22nd Street.

After completing the study, the adjustments did not improve traffic flow, leading to the updated signal configuration.
