HOLT COUNTY, Mo. (KQTV) -- Two adults were killed in a motorcycle crash on Tuesday morning in Holt County, just over two miles north of Oregon, Missouri.

A 43-year-old man from Bedford, Iowa, driving a 2007 Victory Motorcycle Vegas with a 45-year-old female passenger from Lincoln, Nebraska, was northbound on Interstate 29.

The crash occurred when the driver attempted to avoid a deer in the roadway and braked. The motorcycle skidded, and the front of the vehicle struck the deer. The motorcycle overturned onto its left side and both the driver and passenger were ejected.

The motorcycle came to rest in the gore, which is a triangular split in the road, of the northbound 75 exit ramp on its left side, facing northeast.

Both the driver and the passenger were pronounced deceased on scene by Holt County Coroner Gene Bradley. Next of kin for both subjects have been notified.

The driver and the passenger were transported by Rupp Funeral Home to Frontier Forensic in Kansas City, Kansas.

The driver was not wearing a helmet, and the passenger was, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.
