ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- As part of the ongoing dispute over the St. Joseph School District’s reorganization plan, a court hearing was held on Friday, May 26 involving We the People - 3 Schools Inc.'s request for a preliminary injunction against SJSD.

During the hearing, Judge Kate Schaeffer denied the plaintiff’s request for a preliminary injunction.

The plaintiffs called several witnesses to testify, including SJSD staff member Jeff Leake, board member LaTonya Williams and two mothers whose children attended Lafayette and have been affected by the recent changes.

During cross-examination, attorneys for the defense challenged the testimony presented by the plaintiffs.

The court then heard from the defense’s witness, assistant superintendent of business and operations Robert Hedgecorth, who testified on behalf of the district.

After hearing from both sides, the judge decided to deny the injunction requested by the plaintiff.

The ruling means the district’s reorganization plan 4BR will remain in place while the lawsuit continues.
