Smithville Police seek assistance with on-going death investigation

SMITHVILLE, Mo. (KQTV) -- The Smithville Police Department is asking for the public's assistance in a death investigation dating back to 2022.

According to police, Ryan Weeks went missing on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2022, when he walked out of a local establishment in Smithville, Missouri, and was not seen again.

In 2025, skeletal remains determined to be suspicious were located and later identified as Weeks's remains.

Local law enforcement is continuing to conduct interviews regarding the incident, and the case remains active, according to a news release.

The Smithville Police Department said the public can assist by providing any credible information regarding Weeks's suspicious death by contacting the Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers TIPS Hotline 24 hours a day.

The police department said anonymous information could result in up to a $2,000 cash reward.
