St. Joseph Police Department shares mid-year code enforcement statistics

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- The St. Joseph Police Department shared its mid-year statistics of the work being done by its Code Enforcement Division to help keep St. Joseph's neighborhoods safe and clean.

SJPD shared the statistics in a Facebook post, detailing numbers from January 2026 through May 2026.

When it comes to property maintenance and abatement, SJPD said there were 891 cubic yards of trash removed, 296 cubic yards of brush removed, 514,970 square feet of grass and weeds cut and 206 tires removed.

Throughout the year, so far, SJPD has received:

  • 813 new citizen complaints
  • 1,094 surveyed complaints generated by inspectors
  • 3,897 conducted re-inspections
  • Nine served warrants
  • 1,640 mailed violation notices
  • 17 verbal violation notices
  • 260 granted extensions
  • 1,281 cases brought into compliance by owners or tenants
  • 178 complaints determined to be unfounded
  • 1,691 administrative penalties
  • 90 citations
  • 66 notices posted of properties.

Despite all of the aforementioned statistics, 1,281 properties were brought into compliance by owners or tenants following any notices or citations.

SJPD said the efforts help reduce health and safety hazards, improve neighborhood appearance and enhance the quality of life for residents.
