ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- St. Joseph residents are invited to attend a Town Hall-style meeting regarding the proposed data center project on Pickett Road.

The meeting was requested by City of St. Joseph officials to provide an opportunity for both City leaders and community members to receive answers to questions that have been raised about the proposed development.

The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, at the Missouri Theater, 717 Edmond St.

Attendees will hear directly from the project's developers, their legal representatives and utility partners. The meeting will provide additional information about the project and allow City officials and residents to ask questions, address concerns and gain a better understanding of the proposal and its impacts to the community.

The City said the meeting is for informational purposes only. It is not a City Council work session or special meeting.

The property owner of 6321 Pickett Road has submitted requests to annex approximately 130 acres into the City of St. Joseph and to rezone the property. Property owners have a legal right to request annexation and zoning changes, according to the City.

The City said annexation and rezoning requests will be considered through its public review process.

City leaders said a tentative first reading of the annexation ordinance and the first reading of the rezoning ordinance will take place at the Aug. 17 City Council meeting.

A public hearing on the rezoning request will also be held at the Aug. 17 meeting.

Second and final readings of both ordinances are tentatively scheduled for Aug. 31.
