MoWest football team holds third annual chicken wing eating contest at Buffalo Wild Wings

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) - The MoWest football team had its third annual offseason chicken wing eating contest at Buffalo Wild Wings in St. Joseph on Tuesday.

The offensive and defensive lines competed against each other for bragging rights and a great team bonding session in the offseason to prepare for the season. The offensive line ended up winning for the third straight time by downing 540 wings as a group.

Senior lineman Connor Holt is also an employee at Buffalo Wild Wings, he and his boss came up with this idea 3 years ago.

"We just wanted to build this college town. Traditions in college towns people look back and see the memories behind them. I love the fact that this competition has grown," said Holt. "O-line and D line, we do a lot of physical competition, a lot of battling on the field. I think continuing that tradition off the field and keeping that battle going is great. It's also camaraderie, you look back you'd be like, man remember when we pounded 50 wings or in this case 540. So yeah it was definitely an awesome time."

Holt graduates in December of this year and he hopes that another MoWest player on the team continues the wing eating contest tradition.
