No injuries reported after C-130 aircraft makes emergency landing at Rosecrans

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- No injuries were reported after a C-130 aircraft had to make an emergency landing at Rosecrans.

The landing occurred around 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. A total of eight passengers were on the aircraft, and all work for the 139th Airlift Wing.

Airport Manager Julius Rice cited hydraulic failure as the reason for the emergency landing; however, it is unknown what caused the failure.

"Which is why you saw the emergency response. It's all precautionary; fortunately, this one it was purely precautionary," he said. "There were no injuries, no major damage to any aircraft; the runway is fine, but we do all those checks any time an aircraft declares an emergency and comes into Rosecrans."

Numerous law enforcement and safety officials were on scene to respond to the incident. A KQ2 reporter observed the St. Joseph Fire Department, St. Joseph Police Department, Buchanan County EMS and the U.S. Air Force, among others.

The aircraft took 20 minutes to land safely on the runway.
