ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- The St. Joseph City Council will meet Monday, Aug. 3, with several ordinances up for discussion.

One ordinance would authorize the city to accept more than $155,800 in grants from the Missouri Department of Transportation's Traffic and Highway Safety Division.

The funding would support enforcement of hazardous moving violations, driving enforcement, motorcycle safety training and the Midland Empire Alcohol Task Force.

The money would also help cover police department training, equipment, overtime and pension-related expenses.

Council members will also consider an ordinance approving a contract with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services to provide the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) nutrition program.

The agreement is worth more than $558,500 and would fund WIC services in the community.
