Pony Express Museum launches new kids’ learning program

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- A Pony Express Museum children's development program is coming to light after being in the works for 10 years.

Pre-school-aged children, their teachers, families and caregivers are welcome to attend a ribbon-cutting to kick off the museum's "Explore. Discover. Learn" (EDL) program.

The Museum will offer free admission all day. The open house event will take place from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Aug. 29.

Attendees will meet some of the families involved in the development of the learning program. In addition, the families will distribute commemorative ribbons in five assorted colors for children to take home as souvenirs of the occasion.

“We are so excited to present this newest method of passing history on to the newest generation," Museum Executive Director Cindy Daffron said. "This program provides yet another technique to share the Legend and the Legacy of the Pony Express. Please join us to watch as children utilize this new educational tool. Thank you to the many volunteers involved in the development of this program.”

Open house activities will take place in the east community room. Lemonade and cookies will be available, and attendees will also be able to meet and interact with volunteers.
