MSHP identifies, searches for person of interest in double homicide

CARROLL COUNTY, Mo. (KQTV) -- Investigators have identified a person of interest and are in search of a man who is considered armed and dangerous following a double homicide incident in rural Caroll County.

At approximately 11:40 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 23, the Carroll County Sheriff's Office requested the Missouri Rural Major Case Squad investigate a double homicide.

The incident occurred at a residence near the intersection of Route MM and County Road 250.

Investigators said they have identified Ryan A. Munson, 48, of Carrollton, Missouri, as a person of interest.

Munson was last seen driving a black 2017 Ram quad cab, displaying Missouri registration 3YHG01.

The truck was last seen traveling north on U.S. Highway 61, near Hannibal, Missouri, Sunday afternoon.

According to a news release from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Munson should be considered armed and dangerous, and if seen, do not approach him. Additionally, anyone who sees Munson should immediately call 911.

Investigators believe Munson may currently be in northeastern Missouri, southeastern Iowa or western Illinois (tri-state area).

The Missouri Rural Major Case Squad is currently gathering facts and following up on investigative leads.

The case squad is comprised of members from various law enforcement entities across west-central Missouri, including members of the Division of Drug and Crime Control.

MSHP said that, to protect the integrity of the investigation, specific details are not being released at this time.
