MoWest football picks up first conference win of 2026 with victory over Fort Hays State

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) - The MoWest football team came away with its first home victory of the year and first MIAA Conference win of the season as well in a 46-29 victory over Fort Hays State.

Griffons junior quarterback Isaiah Tate completed 28-of-40 passes for 429 yards and 6 touchdowns with 1 interception. Of those scores, 4 touchdown passes came in the first half.

Sophomore Crew Myers led MoWest in receiving yards with 189 on 8 catches and added 2 scores. Right behind him was 6'5 junior Malik Moore who caught 9 passes for 147 yards and 1 touchdown. Senior Victor Taylor Junior added 2 touchdown receptions and freshman Peyton Hatfield had 1 score.

On the ground, junior running back Rickie Dunn led the Griffons with 130 yards on 25 carries and a touchdown.

The MoWest defense collected 3 Fort Hays State interceptions, 2 came from redshirt senior Mayes Doggan and the other went to senior Tedrick Tate Jr.

MoWest improves to 2-2 on the season and next plays at Emporia State on Saturday, October 3rd at 1 pm.
