ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- The Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art is inviting the community to kick off its holiday season at the annual Sugarplum Festival.

The 40+-year-old tradition has brought together holiday shoppers, local artisans and small businesses for a celebration filled with unique gifts, seasonal entertainment and holiday cheer.

Each November, AKMA is transformed into a holiday wonderland, welcoming visitors to explore decorated rooms while shopping from more than 30 small businesses, local entrepreneurs and artisans.

Guests will discover a wide variety of handcrafted gifts, vintage goods, seasonal decor and other treasures.

Additionally, visitors can also enjoy live music and performances, festive activities and lunch catered by Gina's Cafe and Catering.

Festivities take place from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12, with the Sugar Plum Preview Party.

Thursday evening will give guests an early opportunity to shop the festival and enjoy the holiday atmosphere before the weekend begins. The popular Deck the Halls Auction will also be open during the Preview Party, featuring items available for bidding throughout the festival.

The Festival continues from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 13, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14.

Lunch will be served on both Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday visitors can also enjoy half-priced admission from 2 to 4 p.m.

The Deck the Halls Auction will conclude at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

General admission tickets are $8 in advance or $10 at the door. Presale tickets are available at AKMA, Price Chopper, Hy-Vee, Mosaic Life Care and the St. Joseph Convention and Visitors Bureau.
