Gov. Kehoe signs executive order ahead of potential severe weather

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KQTV) -- Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe signed Executive Order 26-08 on March 6, in preparation for severe weather forecasted across the state.

The executive order declares a State of Emergency and activates the Missouri State Emergency Operations Plan. The plan enables state agencies to coordinate with local jurisdictions for assistance.

"The National Weather Service has cautioned that the threat of severe storms throughout the state tonight may produce damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes," Kehoe stated in a news release. "I urge all Missourians to pay attention to their local weather forecasts, follow official warnings, and have multiple ways to receive alerts, especially overnight."

Kehoe said this is a proactive step to ensure the emergency management teams are fully prepared if the forecasted storms warrant immediate action.

Executive Order 26-08 will expire on April 5, 2026.
