ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- A child and a man were struck and injured in a shots-fired incident in the 3000 block of St. Joseph Avenue Wednesday night, according to the St. Joseph Police Department.

SJPD received a call of multiple shots being fired around 8:45 p.m.

The juvenile who was struck was taken to Children's Mercy Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The man who was also struck by gunfire was taken to Mosaic Life Care with critical injuries, but is in stable condition.

No other injuries were reported during the incident.

SJPD said the suspect(s) are not in custody; however, the incident is believed to be isolated and there is not a known risk to the community.

A KQ2 reporter who is at the scene Wednesday observed multiple officers and cop cars, as well as crime tape posted around the area.

Detectives were called out and were processing the incident in the area.

SJPD said the incident is still under investigation.
