Resurfacing work to begin on I-29 in early April

BUCHANAN COUNTY, Mo. (KQTV) -- The Missouri Department of Transportation has contracted the Herzog Contracting Corp. to replace the approaches to two bridges and resurface a section of Interstate 29.

The approaches to Pigeon Creek Bridge and Bee Creek Bridge will be replaced, as well as a section of I-29 from Pigeon Creek in Buchanan County, at mile marker 39.8 to the Platte County line at mile marker 31.

Work is scheduled to being on Monday, April 6.

Crews will begin work rebuilding the outside shoulder of the interstate at Pigeon Creek and Bee Creek approaches and will move to replace the approaches at the southbound bridges, then the northbound bridges.

Once the approaches are complete, crews are scheduled to resurface I-29 beginning in August 2026.

With this improvements, I-29 will be narrowed to one lane with an 11-foot width restriction in place.

MoDOT said motorists should expect delays.

The resurfacing is scheduled to be completed by mid-October 2026.

All work is weather-permitting and schedules are subject to change.
