Man killed, one seriously injured in crash involving tractor

BUCHANAN COUNTY, Mo. (KQTV) -- A 63-year-old St. Joseph, Missouri, man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Missouri Route 116 Thursday morning.

The crash occurred after &:30 a.m. as a 66-year-old male driver from De Kalb, Missouri, of a 2016 Toyota Tundra was eastbound on MO 116, two miles southwest of De Kalb. The vehicle also held a 63-year-old male occupant from St. Joseph.

A 26-year-old man from Dearborn, Missouri, driving a 2011 John Deere tractor was westbound on MO 116, when the Toyota crossed the center of the roadway and struck the implement being towed by the tractor, according the a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

The Toyota then traveled off the south side of the roadway and struck a creek bed. It came to rest on its wheels facing east.

The tractor came to a controlled stop in a field entrance.

The 63-year-old passenger, who was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the report, was pronounced dead at 8:18 a.m. by a Buchanan County EMS paramedic and was transported by Rupp Funeral Home to their facility.

The 66-year-old driver was also not wearing a seatbelt and was transported by Buchanan County EMS to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph.

The tractor driver did not experience any injuries.
