ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- Buchanan County will mark the start of construction for the expansion of the Judge Frank D. Connett, Jr. Juvenile Justice Center with a ground breaking ceremony Friday.

Co-hosted by Goldberg Group Architects and Lehr Construction, the ceremony will take place from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Juvenile Justice Center, located at 4702 Green Acres Road.

The expansion will enhance the facilities and improve services provided by the county's juvenile justice system.

Previous reporting from News-Press NOW said the expansion would increase the number of beds provided at the center from six to 24.

The groundbreaking ceremony is free and open to the public.
