FILLMORE, Mo. (KQTV) -- Fillmore residents are working to clean up damage from severe weather and storms that swept through the area.

No injuries were reported from the storms, but damage included downed trees, damaged cars and roofs, and power outages affecting many residents.

Some residents in the area reported seeing a funnel cloud, strong winds, hail and rain.

Charlie Townsend, Fillmore fire chief said after the storms, many people from the surrounding county came to Fillmore to help with the cleanup efforts.

"You had Bolckow Fire Department, Rosendale Fire Department, county employees, city employees and Savannah city employees helped out," he said.

David Gabriel, emergency coordinator for Andrew County, wanted to give Fillmore a shoutout for their efforts in cleaning up the streets after the storm.

"When we was up here going through the streets, everybody had a chainsaw in their hand and watching because there was power lines down," he said. "They were all cutting limbs, trees, to make sure there was access to everywhere in town."

Justin Moore, a Fillmore resident, had a lot of damage in his backyard after the storm. Moore is glad everyone is safe.

"You know, anything back here can be rebuilt. Mostly, I'm glad that my family is not hurt and nobody in the community got hurt," he said.

Due to the severe damage in his backyard, Moore and his family have been without power since Monday night.

"As you can see, my power pole is on the ground, and I been without power since 8:30 p.m. last night," he said.

GeanAnne George-Evans, another Fillmore resident, said she saw a funnel cloud form.

"I was on the porch watching the lightning, and it was pretty calm. All of a sudden, the wind picked up and I just see the clouds form together," she said. "I was still pretty still at the point and then I just shut the door. I got an eerie feeling."

Fillmore residents said they didn't receive any warning or emergency sirens.

"It was like at a distance because I was still standing in the door. I was inside my house, but the door was open. It was still at a distance. I wasn't quite sure if that was a tornado. I never seen one before," she said.
