St. Joseph Transit to offer free rides for ‘Dump the Pump’

File

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- The City of St. Joseph said the St. Joseph Transit will offer free rides to encourage residents to "Dump the Pump".

On Thursday, June 18, residents can ride free on all routes, all day, as often as they'd like; however, riders will be charged for deviations.

"Dump the Pump" Day is an annual awareness event that encourages people to utilize public transit, carpooling, biking or walking.

The event is sponsored by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), and aims to highlight how commuting alternatives can save money on gas and reduce environmental impact, according to the National Day Calendar.
