ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV)-- The City Council met for a work session on Monday to discuss several items on the agenda, including updates on the ongoing work at Krug Park.

Phillip Leimbach, chief project manager, said crews are currently working on the main amphitheater, where they’re setting rocks and will soon begin work on the side walls and other foundational elements of the structure.

“On the barbeque boulevard side of it, they have got everything else ready to go. They should start working on the shelters later this year,” he said.

At the castle, the brick restoration work is complete. Crews will soon begin rough-in work on the interior.

“You won’t see much at the castle because it’s interior work, but bringing in the stones and everything, you will really start to see that layout,” Leimbach said.

Looking ahead, Leimbach said residents can expect to see more of the new structures and other improvements around Krug Park take shape in the coming months.
