City seeks community vote to name street sweepers

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- The City of St. Joseph is asking for the community's help in naming its new street sweepers, after narrowing down submitted ideas from area elementary schools.

Six finalists were chosen to name the trucks that help keep the city clean.

Residents now have a chance to cast their vote after kindergarten through sixth grade students from elementary schools across the city were tasked with submitting their ideas within the last two weeks.

The City said it received hundreds of suggestions, making the Public Works team's job of narrowing down the list to six finalists no easy task.

The finalists are:

• Dirt Vader
• Lightning McClean
• Lil Chicken Nuggy
• Obi Wan Cleanobi
• Optimus Grime
• Sweeping Beauty

Residents have a chance to pick the winners from now through 5 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 21, by visiting https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScBEE3MHDZMaOYUKEdOghCoyq87WRxKtYsftNVGMe3VMxtg5g/viewform .

The three names with the most votes will be assigned to the City's street sweepers.
