JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KQTV) -- The Missouri Judiciary issued a warning about at least one fake website "spoofing" Case.net that may expose the public to viruses or other malware.

Case.net, an online search portal providing public access to public case information and documents, is a free tool and is linked from the Missouri Courts website www.courts.mo.gov.

The fake website, "Casenetmo.us," appears to be run by court-related personnel, but it is not. The website was uncovered Wednesday.

Officials with the state urged the public not to use the website, as attempting to do so may produce a message warning that a virus has been detected.

Officials said law enforcement has been notified and are investigating the situation/

Additional websites with some form of "Case.net" in their names, but are not Case.net include:

  • mo-casenet.us
  • casenetmo.net
  • mo-case.net
  • casenetmonet.website3.me
  • www-casenetmo.us

The websites are not managed or affiliated with the Missouri courts. The Missouri Judiciary said it is unclear whether the aforementioned sites pose similar dangers. The investigation remains ongoing.
