One dead, one seriously injured in Mercer County crash

MERCER COUNTY, Mo. (KQTV) -- One man is dead, and another is seriously injured after a two-vehicle crash in Mercer County Tuesday morning.

The crash occurred around 11:52 a.m. ar Route P at Decal Street, approximately eight miles west of Mercer, Missouri.

An 84-year-old driver from Chariton, Iowa, of a 2013 Chevrolet Impala with an 83-year-old male passenger was sitting at a stop sign facing eastbound on Decal Street.

A 48-year-old male driver of a 2013 Chevrolet 2500 was southbound on Route P.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, the driver of the Impala failed to yield to the truck when the truck struck the Impala on the driver's side.

The Impala then travelled off the east side of the roadway and came ot rest facing northeast on its wheels.

The truck then continued southbound and came to a controlled stop in the northbound lane of Route P on its wheels.

The driver of the Impala was pronounced dead on scene at 12:08 p.m. by tmercer County Coroner Doug Priest.

All persons involved were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Impala was taken to Roberson Funeral Home in Bethany, Missouri.

The passenger of the Impala was taken to Wayne County Hospital by Mercer County Ambulance.
