Amberwell, Mosaic partnership to bring cancer care services to Atchison

ATCHISON, Kan. (KQTV)-- Patients in Atchison, Kansas, and the surrounding area will soon have greater access to cancer treatment closer to home. 

Amberwell Health and Mosaic Life Care have announced a clinical collaboration to create Amberwell Cancer Care, a new program which will provide chemotherapy, infusion therapy and onsite oncology clinic appointments. 

The program is expected to open in 2028 as part of a 20,000-square-foot expansion at the Amberwell Atchison campus. 

The new facility will include a dedicated infusion space designed specifically for cancer patients, an on-site oncology pharmacy and clinic appointments with a physician team that brings extensive regional oncology experience. 

Under the partnership, Amberwell Atchison will own the new facility and operate Amberwell Cancer Care. Through a provider services agreement, Mosaic will provide oncology physicians and clinical leadership, building on its established cancer program. 

Mosaic Life Care CEO Mike Poore said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to expanding access to specialized care in local communities. 

“So that they can serve the community locally, and it is important to Mosaic that we are supporting local and regional hospitals and providing services to their community,” Poore said.  

Poore said one of the biggest benefits of the collaboration is allowing patients to receive specialized cancer care without having to travel long distances.
