Data shows rural Missouri school districts lose millions in state funding with elimination of income tax

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV)-- A Missouri-based nonprofit, non-partisan public policy analysis organization broke down the potential impacts of the passage of Amendment 5 on school districts across the state. 

According to Missouri Budget Project's data, northwest Missouri schools will lose hundreds of thousands of dollars in state funding if voters approve Amendment 5 and the elimination of the state income tax. 

Here are a few schools in northwest Missouri and the Missouri Budget Project's analysis:

Cameron R-I- Loss of $3,204,747, or about 8.8% of its total spending

King City- Loss of $500,493, or 7.2% of their total spending

Maryville R-II- Loss of $1,448,462, or approximately 3.6% of its total spending

Mid-Buchanan R-V- Loss of $1,109,614, accounting for about 8.2% of its total spending

Mound City R-II- Loss of $250,796, or about 4.5% of its total spending

North Andrew R-VI- Loss of $538,249, or roughly 10.8% of its total spending

Savannah R-III- Loss of $3,993,616, representing about 8.6% of its total spending
