Lafayette High School girls hoops beats Savannah, advances to Class 4 District 16 Championship

(ST. JOSEPH, MO) - The 2 seed Lafayette High School girls basketball team defeated 3 seed Savannah, 60-43 in the Class 4 District 16 Semfinals.

The Fighting Irish started the game on a 14-0 run and held Savannah to just 11 first half points.

Lafayette had four players finish in double-figures. They were led by sophomore Rozlyn McDevitt with 16 points. Juniors Katana Bigham and Laniya Carriger both finished with 12 points. Bigham and McDevitt both finished with 4 3-point makes. Junior Emery Omon finished with 10 points. For Savannah, senior Ella Scott led the team with 18 points, all coming in the second half on 6 3-point shots.

Lafayette improves to 23-3 on the season and Savannah finishes the year 22-6.

Lafayette will now face rival Benton in the Class 4 District 16 Championship on Friday, March 6th at 6 pm. It will be the last time the two teams will ever meet on the basketball court.
