Chiefs move equipment up to St. Joseph to prep for Training Camp next week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KQTV) - We're one week away from St. Joseph and MoWest's campus hosting its 16th Kansas City Chiefs Training Camp. The teams equipment staff has spent the last few days sending things up to campus to get things ready.

The Chiefs staff loaded up the training room this past Monday, the weight room was yesterday on Tuesday and the equipment room was loaded up today. About 10 semi-trucks worth of equipment will be hauled up to MoWest's campus this week.

Holt McKenney, the Assistant Equipment Manager for the Chiefs says not a lot of planning goes into this process, that his team has been slowly packing things away the last few weeks to get things ready for camp. Regarding what all they're bringing up here? It's quite a lot.

"Individual items are probably in the thousands, but we're packing more than probably 550 pairs of cleats, 300 pairs of gloves, hundreds of footballs, headbands, quarterback towels, all the way down to toiletries, field equipment, weight room stuff, training room stuff and everything you can think of," said McKenney. "We probably will have these trucks unloaded within one and a half to two hours, but it's just the unpacking that takes a long time. Open lockers have to be set up. That'll take a few hours every day. We're gonna have players and coaches back on Friday, so that's our deadline. It's a short drive, but normally everything's up there. Missouri Western State does a great job of cleaning everything out for us and so we're just excited to get back."

The Chiefs quarterbacks, rookies and coaches will report to St. Joseph starting on Friday, July 24th around 2 pm. They'll then practice through the weekend and then everyone else will report to Training Camp on the official first day on Wednesday, July 29th at 9:15 am.
